Scientific studies on olive polyphenols and resveratrol have shown positive effects on cardiovascular health, sugar metabolism (diabetes), reduction of inflammation, protection of cognitive functions and cancer prevention (Cicerela et al., 2010; Hu et al., 2014; Tomé-Carneiro et al., 2013). Vitoli® HEALTHY AGING is recommended on a continuous basis to reduce oxidative levels and maintain a natural antioxidant defense. - Given the multiple physiological effects of olive polyphenols, if you want more details, we recommend the references Hu et al., 2014, Cicerale et al., 2012 and Ghanbari et al., 2012. The anti-aging effects have been described and discussed by Menendez and colleagues, 2013. In addition, a clinical study has demonstrated a rapid and dose-dependent adsorption of hydroxytyrosol with a proportional reduction of 8-iso-PGF2a as an indicator of oxidative stress (Visioli et al., 2000).
- With regard to resveratrol, a recent article makes a very good analysis of the known mechanisms of action related to in-vitro, in-vivo and clinical results (Tomé-Carneiro et al., 2013). In addition, Timmer and colleagues, 2012, summarize very well 28 clinical studies on bioavailability, oxidative stress and inflammation, cardiovascular benefits, cancer prevention, diabetes, obesity and on metabolic dysfunctions.

The health benefits of olive oil are mainly attributable to its polyphenols (Ghanbari et al., 2012) which make up a family of more than 30 compounds. Their multiple health benefits would be related in part to the inhibition of the metabolic pathways of aging (Menendez et al., 2013). The Provitol® Complex formulation provides 100% of the required hydroxytyrosol dose for the EFSA health claim in Europe, involving the oxidation of bad cholesterol (LDL).
Resveratrol, Japanese Knotweed Extract (Reynoutria japonica)
Japanese knotweed is a plant from Asia and North America that is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition to providing trans-resveratrol, which is also found in red wine, the plant contains 7 other compounds with antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular and cognitive health protection properties (Zhang et al., 2014). It has been used for over a thousand years to treat many health problems.
