Gagnier and collaborators concluded moderate to strong evidence for concentrations of 40 mg or more of harpagoside per day when administered devil’s claw extract. The double standardization of harpagoside and harpagosides (family of compounds) assures a better activity by a stronger inhibition of the production of leukotrienes and thromboxanes than the harpogoside alone purified (Maique Weber Biavatti, 2009; Garnier et al., 2004). More than 60 years of study and the review of more than 15 human clinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness (Georgiev et al., 2013; Gagnier et al., 2004).
