- Can help prevent osteoporosis with adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D as part of a healthy diet
- Helps in the development and maintenance of bones and teeth.
- Helps prevent vitamin D deficiency.
- Provides antioxidants.
It is recommended that you take Vitoli® BONE HEALTH as a preventive measure to help you keep your bones strong as you age. It’s not just about calcium: Vitoli® BONE HEALTH also contains a dose of magnesium, vitamin D3, vitamin K2 and the Provitol® Complex. We recommend supplementing the intake of this product with an adequate intake of dietary calcium and regular physical activity. Consult your doctor, pharmacist or nutritionist.
Bone mass generally remains stable until the age of 50 in men and until menopause in women. Then the bone resorbs faster than it regenerates (Harvard Medical School, Special Health Report, 2010). This situation of loss of bone mass causes imbalances in minerals. It should be noted that taking more calcium, without magnesium, could increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (Hruby et al., 2014).
- Taking too much calcium while aging would increase the risk of arterial calcification (Wang et al., 2014). Taking a magnesium supplement would prevent this risk (Hruby et al., 2014) while reducing the risk of osteoporosis (Castiglioni et al., 2013).
- Vitamin K deficiency increases the risk of osteoporosis, but also of other serious diseases (Vermeer, 2012). Vitamin K1 is mainly retained by the liver for the production of platelet factors and vitamin K2 is circulated in the blood to the bones and other tissues.
- Vitamin K2 would stimulate bone production and reduce absorption (Iwamoto et al., 2006). Its concentration would drop after the age of 50 (Vermeer, 2012).
Provitol®, Olive Extract (Olea europaea, fruit)
The health benefits of olive oil are mainly attributable to its polyphenols (Ghanbari et al., 2012). The antioxidant effects of hydroxytyrosol are complementary effects that may be beneficial in a bone health product, as proposed for osteoporosis associated with menopause (García-Villalba et al., 2013). These multiple health benefits are linked in part to the inhibition of the metabolic pathways of aging (Menendez et al, 2013). The formulation of the Provitol® Complex, (2 capsules) is equivalent to 100% of the required hydroxytyrosol dose for the permitted health claim by EFSA in Europe.
Calcium and Magnesium
Calcium and magnesium are essential minerals for life. The vast majority of these minerals are found within our bone mass. However, they participate in the regulation of a large number of cellular processes. Magnesium, for example, stabilizes DNA, reduces the possibility of oxidation, and is essential for regulating the action of more than 300 enzymes.
Vitamins D3 and K2
Vitamin D increases calcium absorption by 65%. It plays several other important roles for human health and influences the action of more than 200 genes. Vitamin K is essential for blood coagulation, but also for the production of a large number of proteins (GLA proteins) that interact with calcium, as well as for bone formation. Vitamin D and K deficiencies are common, especially for the aging population.
Non-medicinal ingredients
Magnesium stearate,
Microcrystalline cellulose.
A non-medicinal ingredient would be considered as any substance added to a natural health product to confer the desired consistency or form on the medicinal ingredients. It is therefore a filler, facilitating the capsulation process. They do not influence the health benefits of the product.
