Digestive enzymes are produced by our body to help to break down food into simpler molecules that can be absorbed. When taken as a supplement, they are used to improve digestion, comfort, reduce bloating or even to reduce mucus production (hoarseness after meals). They can degrade protein (proteases), carbohydrates (lactases, amylases, cellulases, etc.) and lipids (lipases). Their supplementation may contribute to the management of digestive disorders, lactose intolerance or slow digestion (Laniro et al, 2016).
The natural production of digestive enzymes can decrease with aging, making it more difficult for the body to absorb, or even, lead to the emergence of new digestive symptoms. Enhancing digestion may consequently improve comfort, but also, maximize nutrient availability from dietary sources. BASE Enzymes contain a mix of 12 enzymes allowing to cover the main needs of digestion.
Digestive symptoms may benefit from two primary forms of supplementation: Enhance the composition of the gut microbiota with a good probiotic like BASE Probiotics, or the use of digestive enzymes like BASE Enzymes. Combining these two products poses no problem to target two different pathways that help promote healthy digestion. For instance, with lactose intolerance, each of these products (BASE Probiotics and BASE Enzymes) helps ease symptoms (cramps, bloating and gas, or other digestive issues).
This versatile formula gives you the flexibility to adapt its use depending on your specific needs. The recommended dosage of 1 to 2 capsules, 3 times a day, allows you to try and determine the right amount for your comfort. Take them with the first bite of your meal to allow them to start working effectively and promote healthy digestion from the very beginning. Keep a bottle on hand to make sure that you are always ready when you need it.
